As a result of the planning appeal in the year 2007,'Christmas in the Easters' is no longer able to retail Christmas decorations from the farmyard at Easter Hall, however we ARE still allowed to sell fresh Christmas trees, wreath and garlands that are grown and produced from our farm and we will be providing the same service and warm welcome as you have all become used to and very much look forward to seeing you.
All is not lost, we can still provide you with all you ever had from here over the past 14 yrs, the decorations etc are now available on the website, with more going on every day. These can be ordered and delivered directly to you at home, we realise that the theatre of the visit here in the past has been a magical experience for many of you and your children have been coming to visit us for as long as they can remember. To address this we have gone to extreme length to try and keep the experience up and the website is our way of addressing this. We appreciate any constructive feedback from the site if you feel anything needs changing, we are new to this environment! This page will be updated on a regular basis to keep you informed as to our progress.
Christmas Wrapped Up, based in Aythorpe Roding, Dunmow, has been awarded the runner up prize for Best Pine Tree at the British Christmas Tree Growers' Association's (BCTGA) annual tree and wreath competition, which was held at Woods Farm in Solihull. The competition seeks out the top Christmas tree grower from around the UK. There were more than 80 entries from growers as far apart as Inverness and Cornwall.
Not only does it look great and smell fantastic but buying your fresh Christmas tree from a BCTGA grower will guarantee it will be freshly harvested. For every tree cut this year at least another will be planted and just one acre of trees provides enough oxygen to support 18 people.
Entries to the competition are divided into four categories; Pine, Fir, Spruce and Wreaths. All trees must be between 1.8m and 2.2m in height. Each entrant is allowed up to two entries in any given category and was judged on foliage, colour, shape and marketability.
The other winners on the day were:
Champion Grower - Netherraw Forestry, Scottish Borders
Best Tree Runner Up - ukChristmas Trees, Cranleigh, Surrey
Best Pine - Scruschloch Farmhouse, Perthshire
Best Spruce - ukChristmas Trees
Best Fir - Netherraw Forestry
Best Wreath - Dartmoor Christmas Tree Farm, Paignton, Devon
